Aruna Jaiswal started her journey as a VLE by opening a CSC centre in Bahera Gram Panchayat of district Hazaribagh, Jharkhand in January 2017, and since then she has been excelling in empowering society with rendering G2C services to at doorsteps of citizens.
Her constant focus on digital empowerment of citizens in Hazaribagh and connect with people garnered credibility and respect for her. At present, she is delivering services, for example, PMGDISHA, Digipay, insurance, flight ticketing, and skill development.
She came to be recognized as a sincere and active woman VLE in Hazaribagh area soon after she started her CSC. People started identifying her as a symbol of women empowerment. She says: “I believe in women empowerment. It gives me immense satisfaction when I serve the senior citizens of village. People of Bahera Gram Panchayat respect me and trust me. And this is the most important part of my journey. They have faith in my CSC for fulfilling their service needs.”
Aruna Jaiswal is an example of a women entrepreneur using ICT to promote public and private services under the Digital India initiative. Aruna Jaiswal’s skills to connect with people have also helped her in generating good earnings for herself.
Moreover, Aruna is highly excited about starting a sanitary napkin manufacturing unit in her area. She says, “It is a matter of pride that I am associated with this noble venture which will ensure that women in villages have the access to affordable and eco-friendly sanitary napkins, thereby improving their health and development outcomes.”
